IM4DC personnel contributed to several multilateral meetings and workshops before and during the African Mining Indaba Conference.
Director of IM4DC, Ian Satchwell, chaired the closing plenary session of the World Bank – Australian Aid Expert Roundtable on shared mining infrastructure.
Panellists were: Caroline Digby, Director of the Centre for Sustainability in Mining and Industry at The University of Witwatersrand; Sven Lunche, Corporate Affairs Manager of Gold Fields; Marit Kitaw of UNECA and AMDC; HE Daniella Randriafeno, Minister of Mines, Madagascar; and Belinda Zimba, Senior Environmental Coordinator, Citizens for a Better Environment, Zimbabwe (and participant in IM4DC’s Emerging Leaders in African Mining program).
Greg Hall, Associate of the Centre for Exploration Targeting at The University of Western Australia and Curtin University was a panel member in the World Bank Geology Forum Lifting the Lid on Africa’s Mineral Resources: The Role of Public Geodata on behalf of IM4DC.
IM4DC’s Deputy Director Education, Robin Evans, was a panellist at the Regional Meeting of the Intergovernmental Forum (IGF) on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development, which discussed mining and the Post 2015 Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Other panellists were Kate Carmichael, Manager, Social and Economic Development, International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and David Parker, Executive in Residence, Canadian International Institute for Extractive Industries and Development (CIIEID).
