Assessment of mineral potential and geological aid in developing countries

The Minister for Resources and Energy, The Hon Gary Gray AO, MP, recently released a report on how Australia could assist overseas countries to sustainably develop their mineral and energy resources.

The report, by Geoscience Australia, assesses the geoscience capability of 138 developing countries in four continent regions identified by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Countries were assessed using eleven sub-categories and were grouped into four broad categories including: geological, geoscience survey capacity, socio-political risk, and geological aid.
